HP Accelerates Customer HPC Initiatives

I’m headed to SC10 soon, arriving early to kick off the HP-CAST user group meeting in New Orleans this evening. I can’t remember ever being this excited about attending SC! My schedule for the next week is 100% packed with customer, partner, and press meetings, and you will be hearing a lot from HP over the next week about how we are accelerating HPC initiatives with our academic, research, and commercial customers. Our new purpose-built SL390 server promises a few surprises when the
Top500 list is announced, not the least of which will be Tokyo Tech’s TSUBAME2 supercomputer. What really excites me about the SL390, however, is not just that it can be used to build a PetaFlop supercomputer like TSUBAME2, but that it scales down to deliver over 1TF/rack unit in a compact, 4RU chassis. Never before has this level of supercomputing power been available to such a broad range of users.

I’m sure I’ll find a few late night or early morning moments to update by blog in the coming week, but have to go catch my flight right now.
