UCLA vs USC in Top500 – Take 2

Earlier this week I compared the UCLA and USC Top500 entries. When the Top500 list was first published on Monday, USC clocked in with its 17th consecutive Top500 entry at #95 with 94 Teraflops of sustained performance. Well, just like the fourth quarter final bell doesn’t always indicate the end of a college football game (tied games go into overtime), the USC entry wasn’t quite final. Apparently there was some mixup over at the Top500 organization and today’s updated Top500 list shows USC at #63 on the list with an updated 126 TF thanks to their new HP ProLiant SL160 systems.

Simply by coincidence, the 32 extra TF was good for a 32 position improvement on the list. So congratulations once again to USC for their corrected, updated Top500 ranking!
